A sirenade is the song of a siren descended from Mallarmé’s A Throw of the Dice. Sweet yet ominous, she shatters imaginary castles and partitions with the strike of her forked tail.
Partition (cloison) — Deleuze’s almost casual term for the co-presence of isolated sexes in each individual. The partition forms where inside and outside touch: body and image, word and poetic form, wild being and human norm.
“Kokui” challenges the Western-centric heteronormative partition. A Finno-Ugric / Turkic toponym, it can mean both a deathly-quiet wasteland and a cry of despair before the terrifying.
It is the cry of those pressed to a nightclub floor by a rubber boot — interrupting the fiction that “everything is fine” and turning reality inside out. What if unity is in pain, in destroying partitions between bodies and organs?
Kokui Sirenada is a dysphoric introspection of vulnerable subjectivity and of organic life-forms breaking through history and culture.
